This is our rock-solid Precision Electric Guitar Setup Class that has been the benchmark for all our classes. Exclusively offered 1-2 times per year w/ optional add-on classes Acoustic Guitar Setup and/or Nut Filing (on select dates/locations only). Be part of this exclusive workshop & learn the secret of a great playing guitar! Similar to a car needing a tune-up, a series of adjustments can be made for it to perform at its optimum. In this workshop you’ll learn the right way to do it, using your own guitar – and it will work every time!
With your registration and participation at the workshop, you will also receive a take-home Guidebook outlining the class material in detail along with top manufacturers’ setup specs and more. Bring your guitar and be ready to learn the art of great guitar setups! The CruzTools Guitar Setup Kit is recommended for this class.*Nut files are required for optional Nut Filing Segment.

What you’ll need for the Electric Guitar Setup Class:

  • Your guitar, new set of strings
  • Pen, pencil & calculator
  • Cloth, towel, or rag to set your guitar on (we’ll be using tables)
  • Neck rest
  • Electronic chromatic tuner with patch cable
  • A crescent wrench/ nut driver set will be helpful
  • *String winder
  • *Capo
  • *Side cutter/wire cutter
  • *Automotive feeler gauge set that measure in .001″ increments
  • *6″ Steel ruler that measures in 64ths
  • *Multi-head screwdriver
  • *Your guitars’ truss rod wrench & saddle height adjustment wrench
    **Nut Filing add-on class will require a Nut file set.

Nut Filing Supplement5572913_2

In this supplemental class, you’ ll learn how to fine-tune the string height at the nut for optimum performance, feel and tone. Learn methods to counteract poorly cut nut slots and restore the guitar to it’s former glory. *Electric Guitar Setup Class is a prerequisite.

Discussions on string gauge changes and other common troubleshooting. *Nut Files are required for this class.

Approx. 2 hours in length as a supplement class only, following the electric or acoustic setup class.

In this supplemental class you will learn:

  • How, why and when to adjust the relief on acoustic guitars.
  • How to adjust the action on acoustic guitars
  • What influences the feel & action on an acoustic guitar
  • Discussions on humidity, string gauge, guitar designs and on-board pickup systems
  • Top manufacturer’s setup specs & more (included in your take-home Guidebook)

Approx. 2 hours in length as a supplement to the electric guitar setup class, or 3-4 hours as a full class.


What you’ll need for the Acoustic Guitar Supplemental Class

  • Your guitar, new set of strings
  • Pen, pencil & calculator
  • Cloth, towel, or rag to set your guitar on (we’ll be using tables)
  • Neck rest
  • Electronic chromatic tuner
  • Patch cable (if you have a pickup)
  • Capo
  • Automotive feeler gauge that measures in .001″ increments
  • 6″ Steel ruler that measures in 64ths
  • Your guitars’ truss rod adjustment wrench
  • Scissors and/or an X-Acto knife
